When the Corrupt feel righteous!!

A few years ago we invented the phrase that "corruption is Institutionalised"...whatever that was supposed to be meant...but loosely it meant that "corruption" is not such an evil to be shocked or perplexed about!

The CM of Karnataka Yediyurappa closed down the State yesterday and his supporters organised burning of buses/tyres/ and enforced the closure of petty shops/traders eking out a meagre livelihood. His Law Minister who promulgated Section 144, on account of the state sponsored Bundh, merrily defied his own order and took a motley crowd of henchmen and stooges in a procession with police protection, if you please! The city was held to ransom by the very guys who ought to have made life peaceful. Millions of commuters and visitors to the city were at the mercy of auto-rickshaw guys who turned into Shylocks, extracting their pound of flesh. The supporters revelled in breaking windscreens of Govt jeeps/ destroyed hundreds of eggs from small petty shops, broke glass jars,stoned glass windows, destroyed newspapers/magazines of small time vendors all in full glare of regional TV Channels. You could actually see the sadistic glee and mirth the organisers of the bundh had in their faces while destroying property worth crores of rupees and raping the common man of his livelihood.It was heart breaking to see the untold misery and suffering of the common man. And they have the audacity and temerity to state that its the spontaneous reaction of the common people!!

While the legal process of prosecution of the CM on corruption charges will drag on for some years, the Director General of Police, Ajai Kumar Singh (before his retirement on 31st Jan 2011) should identify the destroyers of state/private property with the video footage available with the regional TV channels and book them under relevant laws of the land. And as per the Supreme Court orders the cost of the destruction of public property should be assessed and recovered from the concerned.

It is only then that the citizens of this land can rest with some comfort knowing that law of the land prevails. DGP, Sir, You have that brief. (he retired without taking any action..... a hard copy of this was sent to him by post)
